Newport, Oregon

A couple days after Daniel got home we headed south to Oregon to enjoy some of the beautiful sights along the rocky coast. We've always loved the Oregon coast - we honeymooned there and have been back a couple times since. In fact, shortly after we came to Washington we went back to where we spent our honeymoon (Cannon Beach) to celebrate our 6th anniversary. I was very pregnant then. :-)
At 8+ months pregnant April 2012. I felt as big as Haystack Rock.

This time we went to Newport where we spent two nights in a hotel and two nights camping. We had a blast! The weather was on the chilly side, but the clear skies were absolutely beautiful! Daniel took loads of sunset and waves photos, one of which just won first place in an online photo contest! (Go Daniel!) We're excited to go back!

Note: Included in this post is my first ever blog posted video. For those of you who don't know how one crabs, Daniel demonstrates. If you have trouble watching it please let me know and I'll try to fix it.
A misty beach just after sunset.
I love this picture of the 3 of us!
David's morning nap at the hotel.
The starfish Daniel caught.

The crab Daniel caught. Afterwards he cooked it and we ate it. Delicious!

This isn't the contest winning photo, but one very similar.
Crashing waves. It's tough to get a good shot of moving water.
Two happy campers!
Daniel could not be more proud. David really enjoys camping!
We checked out Oregon's tallest lighthouse.
The lighthouse light is a 2 inch lightbulb magnified to be over 8 feet tall and can be seen from 20 miles away! Small and simple things, huh? Makes me think of "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine..."
David and Daniel taking a little break.

We watched these dock workers fillet the days' catch from incoming boats. They were surprisingly fascinating to watch.
We walked up to the water but did not get in because it's WAY too cold! The surfers even wore super duper whale blubber wet suits because it was so cold.
David wanted to drive us to our next stop. Too bad for him that he doesn't meet the driving height requirement.

This is such a great post! Thank you for sharing all the great pictures and the video is way entertaining. And David driving, im sure that for him he will meet that height requirement in no time with his genes. So fun!

Great post! Love all the photos too especially EVERY SINGLE one that David is in!! He's so cute! Glad you were able to go and have such a nice trip. Sometime I'd like to try catching crabs. Congrats to Daniel on the photo contest! Are you going to post the winner? Do you win money for that? Love to you all!
